Newly budded start-up Qtrax is attempting to make a mountain out of a red-ant hill - and getting bit a little too early in the process. Previous press releases caught Qtrax plugging that all four majors had agreed to allow the free-download service to utilize their catalogues - although it has recently come to light that none have approved the service. Warner, EMI, Sony and Universal all deny having reached an agreement with the start-up, though talks continue.

Last.fm is publicly beta testing their new free listening service that will allow users to listen to limited music for free. Once the beta testing is over, the subscription service will begin, allowing subscribers access to unlimited plays from all majors and thousands of independents.
