Spiralfrog.com trades music and videos for demographic information

  •

Well, it has officially arrived – an advertising revenue fueled website that legally offers major and independent label media to its patrons for freesurprise, surprise. Spiralfrog.com was launched this week in a bid to create a new ad revenue resource for major and independent record labels by offering free media to consumers and collecting demographics. Touting a catalogue of over 800,000 songs and 3,500 music videos thus far, with 2 million songs available within the next few months, Spiralfrog.com is blazing uncharted paths in the digital music revenue world - and building upon the corporate industry’s growing postulation that music itself is not worth much more than the ones and zeros it is comprised of.

Spiralfrog.com media files are encoded to play on most portable devices with the exception of Apple iPods – another industry war tactic aimed at toppling the market semi-monopoly of Apple’s portables (as well as iTunes). The files are also unable to be burned to audio CD.
